Hungry Squirrel Is Very Squirrely

In the hands of a squirrel looking for food, anything is game. Take this scene from the U.K. town of Northumberland, where amateur photographer Gail Johnson spotted a red squirrel — with an apple, high atop a tree branch! Alas, the enterprising and alert critter lost his bid for best squirrel dinner ever when the apple fell from the branch. Still, there was room for more scavenging for this squirrel, who — moments later — went into a bird box on the tree to look for other forms of nourishment. Hope he found some — he’ll have earned his dinner!
