While this is not really a record, a recognition was also given to first diabetes detecting dog. Armstrong, a yellow Labrador retriever trained in 2003 in California that could sniff out subtle chemical changes in the blood and warn his owners.

One of the most useful things that our dogs can be trained to do is, of course, saving lives. Jack the Black vom Muehlrad from Germany holds a record in retrieving persons from water over a distance of 25 meters in 1 minute and 38 seconds. Truly an amazing feat.
